I’m a little late posting this, but so excited to see what the future holds for this fine couple. Even though I’m still years from seeing one of my babies pack their bags and head off to college, I have felt some real emotions for Gwyneth’s mom. Sending your baby off to college just seems more than I can bear right now. So mama, I’m saying a prayer for strength for you as you face this next chapter in your daughter’s life.
This is my gorgeous nephew Trey. I say that because this kid is as beautiful on the inside as he is on the outside. He is so sweet and loving and just a joy to be around. I can’t believe his senior year is approaching so fast. To my brother and sister-in-law, this year will fly by, no doubt, and I know you will cherish every moment of it and all of the milestones it carries with it. You have a lot to be proud of. You have raised a good man. I pray that he will choose the right path always and find God’s will for his life.
We had a great week of vacation bible school! I remember as a kid, how I looked forward to that week. A week of fellowship, crafts, bible stories, games and food. As I grew up and started working with VBS, I realized how much work was involved, but still how rewarding that week is. We have some amazing people who help out. And their energy and enthusiasm is contagious and keeps us going each night after exhausting days. One of my favorite parts is “mission time” and learning about missionaries around the world, and how God has changed their lives. This year, we raised money for orphans in Romania, and my heart felt extremely heavy as we looked upon the faces of those sweet children in that orphanage. Those sweet smiles amidst a world of ugliness they’ve endured. They are learning the love of Jesus. And I’m thankful for the workers who have given them a safe place to live and worship the God who created them. We raised enough money this week to build them 3 houses! Praise be to God!
“Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him”
~ Colossians 1:15-16
I’ll eventually catch up to posting pictures. But as we finish up another hectic week, I find solace in finding quiet time to spend with God. I know there are lots of wonderful books out there, but with little time to read, I’ve really just wanted to focus on one book…the Bible. I have to admit, though at one time or another I’m sure I’ve heard every story in there, I’ve really enjoyed reading them again. Last year I focused my attention on the new testament, specifically what it was like for Jesus’s disciples. But this year, I’ve wanted immerse myself in the Old Testament. I love studying people like Joseph, Moses, David, Esther and Noah. What would it be like to be chosen by God for such a powerful role that nothing or no one could stand in, not your way, but God’s. For Moses, to hold out his staff with the faith that God would make something HUGE happen. Can you imagine what it must have been like for people to witness His power? I get this amazing feeling inside when I think about it. THIS is the God I serve. Awesome.
“…there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart”
