“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

The Family that Prays Together

You know that saying, “the family that prays together stays together”?  When I was thinking about what to title this session, that’s what came to mind.  I fell in love with this family moments after meeting them.  Their humbleness, kind spirits, laughter and courtesy spilled out, and this instantly felt like part of my family.  Their faith in Christ and their love for one another is no doubt what keeps them so close.  I love what Barbara, the matriarch told me, “I am so proud of my family”!  I can see why.  I’m so glad God allowed our paths to cross.

Weekly Picture & Scripture

Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before.  Then people who are not believers will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others.”

Weekly Picture & Scripture

I have used this verse so many times for baby pictures or baby shower invitations, and just realized it has never been my “weekly picture & scripture”!  What an amazing verse it is too.  Here Hannah has prayed for a child and promised the Lord if He would give this child to her that she would give him back to the Lord to be raised for him.  We know from scripture that this child is the prophet Samuel.  I think of how hard it would have been for Hannah to basically give him back to God to be raised by the priests that he might serve the Lord and live his life for Him.  Tomorrow school starts back, and some of us parents are feeling a wee bit of what Hannah felt.  We’re sending our kids back to school.  As parents we are constantly questioning whether we are making the right decisions for our children.  We only want what is best for them.  I have to think that Hannah, though she knew she was doing the right thing for Samuel, found it very difficult to give him up.  But God blessed her for her faithfulness.  I hope this school year finds us being faithful to God above all.  Have a blessed school year!

“I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.”

~ 1 Samuel 1:27

Weekly Picture & Scripture

This week’s scripture means particularly a lot to me personally.  This is one of the scriptures that I kept in a journal, and that I would refer to over and over during a especially dark time in my life.  It means a great deal to me, because it was an encouraging scripture during a close walk I experienced with the Lord.  One that I am still so thankful for to this day.  God is good and faithful.  Praise be to God!

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

~ Mark 11:24
